Alien: Earth and Alien: Romulus sequel news

[Rumor] Reason for Fede leaving Alien: Romulus 2 was over wanting to bring David back for the sequel?

A new rumor is circulating suggesting that the reason Fede Alvarez left the Alien: Romulus sequel was because he wanted to cast Michael Fassbender and bring David back somehow. This apparently didn't jive with Ridley Scott because apparently Scott has plans of casting Fassbender in his own Alien project – a new prequel which would continue David's story after Covenant.

According to the rumor, initiated by Jeff Sneider this creative difference led to Fede walking away and Scott reserving David and the casting of Fassbender for his next Alien prequel.

Older rumors also suggested the Alien: Romulus sequel would feature a Predator as part of a crossover, much like how Predator: Badlands features Weyland-Yutani references. This may or may not have also led to some friction, as Scott has never been a fan of the two franchises crossing over.

Obviously this is an unsubstantiated rumor, with no way to verify its validity yet... So, until we receive any kind of confirmation, we can't assume these claims are true.

Big fat IF it is true though, has major implications for the future of Alien and personally, I'd be VERY happy to know Scott is bringing Fassbender back for another Alien prequel.

What do you think?

I want David’s story more than Romulus 2

Honestly same, but I have a feeling Fede wanted to dip further into prequel lore and try his hand at David's story and Ridley considers that very much "his" creation, likely doesn't want anyone else telling that story but him. I can't blame him for that, though. A huge portion of this fanbase want to see what happened to David and Ridley knows it. Romulus and whatever Ridley are planning should remain separate, imo.

For all we know this rumor could be BS and their plans were already to keep the two approaches separate. Maybe it's also a means to survey what audiences want.

I'm wondering the same thing... Also - very very surprised to hear how cool Fede was to casually mention he's no longer directing the next film when he was absolutely hyped to be working on the sequel for a year. I'm sure he's playing cool but I imagine he's livid.
