-----------------------------------------------------------------This is spoiler free....but I'm damn upset!!!
I'm glad people on this board seemed to think it was amazing. I'm truly glad for your experience. As for "not getting it"...ohh..I think I did...but my opinion is:
I'm gratified at how my Wrinkly Weyland thread a few weeks back stood up...but that is because I'm grasping at straws for things to be happy about now I've seen it....
So many opportunities missed for drama / terror / suspense...all washed away with a quick and awkward story....Even the sets (other than the Prometheus) were missed opportunities...
The score sounded great on the album but totally mismatched to the film. Very cheesy.
The only saving graces were the performance that was David8 and the visual effects and design that were the ship Prometheus. 3D was good....but only good. Not WOW good.
I can't say too much but it was cheesy...the ending was awfully cheesy and then when I was taking the glasses off to leave, the ending got jaw dropingly lame.....I can't remember feeling this let down!!!
Have tickets to see it again tomorrow with my Son.....not looking forward to it but got to keep a straight face so it's all a surprise to him.
Can't believe this was sooo unlike an RS film with the exception of attention to detail with the ship.
Very disappointed...going to have a beer now.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 5:59 PM+1 in the score
Over dramatised it, I think it made some scenes a bit fluffy
Alien didn't need it.
Otherwise I left VERY happy. So worth the wait

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 5:59 PMSorry,,,,,,did you see the same movie as me?
Go see it again......but this time put your 3D glasses on.
The 3D was the best ive ever seen......the depth was incredible.
Things jumping out from the screen would have been dumb.
I saw an ad for Spiderman 3D....the new movie and its not a patch on Prometheus.

Does anyone with a different opinion from you "not understand what it was about"? It's called an opinion. And your welcome. After 30 years since being a fan...oh, never mind...
@ Sukkal
Thanks :)
@ Mark
Yup..same film...Glad you enjoyed it though.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 6:11 PMThe problem I think is that some people are trying to compare this to Alien or other films RS has done, I think the film was fantastic and as kevin marks has stated is only the first part to what hopefully will be a continuation to the story, (the only exception is that the scene with Shaw in the Bio Med Bed thing did seem a bit rushed, not sure if this procedure could have been carried out this quickly and that she would have recoved this quickly either), apart from this.... GREAT MOVIE !

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 6:13 PMYes yasjooni.......people should NOT compare it to Alien.....completely different movies ;-)

Really glad you enjoyed it...Wish I was with you on that.
@ others
Not sure at any point I compared it to ALIEN (despite being round when that came out and being a fanboy)..Sounds like trying to justify why others are wrong for disliking it...once again...it's an opinion...buy a dictionary!

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 6:20 PMI think its a trilogy and the Xenos will be explained more in the final instalment but the first 2 parts are all about origin of the species and all the usual questions how, why ,when etc etc.i also think people shouldnt worry too much as the Xenos are coming ,but not yet

That was my biggest fear. I don't know how much of the reason I feel let down was down to his input....but I feel like it's a big factor.
Once again...for those who liked it, loved it.....I'm genuinely glad for you.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 7:01 PMEveryone seems to be justifying this film by saying 'parts 2 and 3' will make it all fit together...
That's irrelevant!!! We have part 1, right here, right now, and it doesn't make any sense!
It's a truly huge issue. And there are too many people saying the same thing for it to be misunderstanding or a lack of appreciation of the 'potential' arc of an epic story.

It's like a Buddhist saying "Hitler may have been a bit of a sh*t, but he'll come back as a swan and then a fluffy bunny...so that makes it all ok"....lol
Some people are just determined to like it......As long as they do, I'm guessing that's a good thing. For me, it sucked overall but contained some nice bits and a great ship / android.

MemberOvomorphDec-21-2012 8:00 PMSince the Space Jockey's chair apeared on the trailers, the statement "Prometheus and Alien are unrelated films" is not valid anymore. The thing that really anoys me is the Space Jockey being so human. I don't care if it wears a suit or not. Just don't make them humans, please... 30 years of comic books and novels about elefantine ET's, to the toilet. I remember when it was the very simbol of the oddness of the universe. Now it's just a religioys/phylosophical excuse (my main language isn't english, so don't be rude about my language, please). I'm surprised, few people speaks about the dissapointment this new Space Jockey was.
